Skip permits
A skip on the road needs permission from the highway authority, City of Doncaster Council. Only skip hire companies approved by the council can get a licence; private individuals cannot apply. Your skip company applies on your behalf.
Fee: £28.50 highways occupancy charge per permit (from 1 April 2026); £109.00 retrospective charge if a skip is found on the road without a licence. Pay and display bays cost £10 a day extra; resident or business bays are free.
Applications can take up to seven days. If the skip needs to stay longer, the skip company must apply for another permit. Contact: HighwayLicences@doncaster.gov.uk or skips@doncaster.gov.uk.
