Skip permits and skip hire in the Kirklees Council area

The rules for putting a skip on the road here, and where to find the 128 skip hire firms we list nearby (24 on the Environment Agency waste carrier register).

Skip permits

A skip on the road needs permission from the highway authority, Kirklees Council. Only registered skip companies can get a licence; they apply by email to recharge@kirklees.gov.uk.

Fee: £32 for up to 14 days; £48 for up to 28 days; £37 for up to 7 days on a Traffic Sensitive Street. Skip found without a licence: £114.

Apply at least two working days ahead, or three working days on Traffic Sensitive Streets. Skips must be coned and lit at night, and not placed on footways or verges without written approval. Full skips must be removed within 2 days.
