Skip permits and skip hire in the Plymouth City Council area
The rules for putting a skip on the road here, and where to find the 7 skip hire firms we list nearby (0 on the Environment Agency waste carrier register).
Skip permits
A skip on the road needs permission from the highway authority, Plymouth City Council. Apply online for a skip permit through the council's form (https://plymouth-self.achieveservice.com/service/Skip_Application). Skip bags and hippo bags on the road also need a licence.
You don't need a licence if the skip is entirely on private land.
You may need to put safety lights and markings on or around the skip, and can be fined up to £1,000 if you don't.
