Skip permits and skip hire in the Swindon Borough Council area

The rules for putting a skip on the road here, and where to find the 24 skip hire firms we list nearby (6 on the Environment Agency waste carrier register).

Skip permits

A skip on the road needs permission from the highway authority, Swindon Borough Council. The skip hire company applies, and must hold Chapter 8 signing, lighting and guarding cards and £10 million public liability insurance.

You should keep the skip on private property, where possible.

Fee: £95 for 21 days (£115 for an emergency licence processed in less than 5 working days)

Allow at least five working days for the council to process an application. A £75 charge applies if the council finds the conditions have been broken.
