The rules for putting a skip on the road here, and where to find the 56 skip hire firms we list nearby (13 on the Environment Agency waste carrier register).
Skip permits
A skip on the road needs permission from the highway authority, Wiltshire Council. The skip company applies and pays online through the MiPermit portal, with £5 million public liability insurance.
Fee: £143.80 with more than three working days' notice; £164.70 with less than three working days' notice. Valid for 28 days. £292.50 late fee if a skip is found on the road without a licence.
For longer than 28 days, apply for a new licence before the current one expires. Skips in a marked parking bay also need a parking bay suspension (parking@wiltshire.gov.uk).
