North Somerset Council charges £86 for a skip licence, rising to £122 if you apply with less than five working days' notice, or £172 if applied for retrospectively; licences run from one day up to 28 days, and the skip company applies, not the homeowner. Apply at least five working days before the skip is needed. Householders must also check that whoever takes their waste is a registered carrier, or risk a council fixed penalty of £150 to £600 for failing in this duty of care.
